Iran Lifts West Asian Saber Trophy

KUWAIT National saber team of Iran won the crown of the 2nd West Asian Games underway here.

In Saturday's final, Iranian fencers Hadi Mohammadzadeh, Mojtaba Abedini, Reza Khaleqi and Peyman Fakhri clashed, helping their side grab the top title.

The host team, Kuwait, finished runner-up and the Jordanian team stood third in saber competitions.

In foil category, the Iranian team comprising Javad Rezaei, Mohammad Mir-Mohammadi, Keyvan Javanshir and Sirous Feiz-Asgari ranked second and snatched the silver medal of the 2nd West Asian Games.

Kuwait managed to take the title and Jordan finished third, IRNA reported.

The medal winners of Iran are as follows:

Peyman Fakhri: Two golds

Hadi Mohammadzadeh: One gold, one bronze

Mojtaba Abedini: One gold, one bronze

Reza Khaleqi: One gold

Keyvan Javanshir: One silver, one bronze

Javad Rezaei: One silver

Sirous Feiz-Asgari: One silver

Mohammad Mir-Mohammadi: One silver
